Tips for Self Management of Plantar Fasciitis

Tips for Self Management of Plantar Fasciitis

Fascia is another name for connective tissue that provides a frame to support the entire body. The thick fascia on the bottom of your foot is stronger than most fascia to allow weight bearing and walking. The plantar fascia can cause pain when a person is standing on it or when they are at rest, causing significant impairments. Plantar fascitiis is very common and there are many self help techniques.

I have used Johnson and Johnson brand Elastikon tape for ten yeast to provide immediate pain relief. When combined with gentle stretching and massage techniques it can provide long term relief. Stretching of the calves and the bottom of the foot should be part of any self- management plan. If pain and disability related to plantar fasciitis frequently recur or persist for several weeks the culprit may be related to weakness or movement patterns in other parts of the body, or changes in training or activity levels.
